First the watercolour was removed from the old wooden stretcher. Dirt was gently lifted from the surface.
Acidity and discolouration were removed from the paper, strengthening the paper and prolonging its life. Tears
were repaired with a reversible adhesive (one that can be removed) and reinforced from behind with Japanese paper.
The watercolour was remounted onto an acid-free board, allowing the paper to expand and contract to changes in humidity.
