Day 55

A cry went up this afternoon that land had been spotted, but the crew laughed and said it was just an iceberg – it was as large as a mountain so I am not surprised people were confused. I have also seen what I think is an albatross – a white bird with huge grey wings.

I have realised that the idea of emigration may seem brave and romantic to some but the reality is much harder. I hope Australia is not so disappointing. The good news is that Joseph is a little better but the cold affects his chest.
