A supporter of Parliament, also known as 'roundheads' because of their short haircuts. These people were usually Puritans (strict English protestants who thought that all Catholic influence in prayer should be abandoned). You can see in the painting that the Parliamentarians (on the right) are wearing very plain and simple clothes.
